Joe Lombardi did not become familiar with lacrosse until after graduating from both Irvington High School and the University of Dayton — neither of which offered the sport. But it didn't take him long to take a liking to it since it combines elements of several of his favorite sports: basketball, hockey and football. Class AA update: Through one and a half innings, Yorktown leads Horseheads 1-0 in a Class AA state quarterfinal at North Rockland High School. Kelly Dumser drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the top of the second inning to bring in Tori Matzura.
