Erin BruehlErin Bruehl has worked at The Journal News since September 2005 and has served as the softball and swimming beat writer. She has also covered a variety of other sports on the high school, college and professional levels. The Journal News is the fifth newspaper Erin has worked for and the seventh media outlet, including covering the U.S. Open for the United States Tennis Association, freelancing for amNew York and interning at Newsday and MSGNetwork.com while in graduate school. A Westchester native, Erin received her Master of Arts degree in journalism in 2004 from New York University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from College of the Holy Cross in 2002. As an undergraduate, she was a member of the Holy Cross women’s varsity crew team and remains an active alumna as a board member of the Holy Cross Alumni Club of New York City.

Congrats to Hen Hud

I just wanted to say congratulations on an amazing season to Hen Hud. The Sailors lost to East Hampton, 4-1, earlier today in a Class A state semifinal game. It was their first-ever trip to the state final four.

The lowdown for tomorrow

Well I hope everyone is excited about Hen Hud’s trip to the state final four tomorrow. I know I am and am hoping the Sailors bring home the title.

Here are the latest rankings.. Yorktown finishes its season ranked No. 3 – not so bad! Hen Hud is No. 5 and their opponent on Saturday, East Hampton, is ranked one above at No. 4.

Hen Hud to states!!

Regionals for tomorrow

I just wanted to update everyone on the schedule for tomorrow.

Class AA regional final
Yorktown vs. Binghamton (Section 4 champ) at BAGSAI complex, 3:30 p.m.
Dan Kiernan will be there to cover it.

Class A regional final
Hen Hud vs. Port Jervis (Section 9 champ) at Minisink Valley High School, 5:30 p.m.

Today’s schedule

In case anyone wants to make the trips, Dobbs Ferry plays Section 9 champion Millbrook today at 3:30 p.m. and Albertus Magnus plays Section 9 champion Marlboro at 5:30 p.m. at Red Hook Recreation Fields. I am covering Dobbs and Tony is covering Magnus.

In case anyone was planning on making the trip up to Red Hook today, just wanted to let you know that both the Class B and Class C regionals have been postponed until tomorrow.

A first for the Cornhuskers, Dobbs wins in C

Hi Everyone, I apologize for not posting after the Class C game yesterday but I was simply exhausted. Dobbs Ferry played a great game to defeat Haldane for the Class C title, 4-3.
It is believed to be Dobbs’ first title since 1991. Freshman pitcher Jacqueline Crews pitched a great game with eight strikeouts and Dobbs [...]

About the authors
Debbie Schechter is starting her second year at The Journal News and LoHud.com. She is a graduate of SUNY Brockport with a degree in broadcast communications. She has covered gymnastics and swimming and enjoys all sports.
Tony Pinciaro, who grew up in Silver Lake and is a 1981 Harrison High School graduate, covered the Westchester/Putnam softball beat for six years for The Journal News. This season, he will switch over and handle the Rockland beat. Tony is married with two children, Elena, 9, and Vincent, 6. When he is not covering softball this season, Tony will be cheering for Elena, who will be playing for the Storm in the Nanuet Little League Triple A softball division.
