Tony PinciaroTony Pinciaro, who grew up in Silver Lake and is a 1981 Harrison High School graduate, covered the Westchester/Putnam softball beat for six years for The Journal News. This season, he will switch over and handle the Rockland beat. Tony is married with two children, Elena, 9, and Vincent, 6. When he is not covering softball this season, Tony will be cheering for Elena, who will be playing for the Storm in the Nanuet Little League Triple A softball division.

1st-team all state: Reilly-Boccia, Alexander, Poloni

Yorktown’s Cassie Reilly-Boccia (Class AA), and Tappan Zee’s Brittni Alexander and Pearl River’s Krystina Poloni (Class A) were selected first-team all state in their respective classes by the New York State Softball Writers Association.

Reilly-Boccia, who will play softball at Alabama next year, was instrumental in propelling Yorktown to a second consecutive Class AA sectional title. [...]

Update (4:58 p.m.) Ali LaRue’s run-scoring single with two out in the bottom of the seventh gives South Glens Falls a 3-2 win.

Horseheads pitcher Cortney Cruttenden tossed a five-hitter as the Section 4 champions denied Yorktown a trip to the state final four.
