Now as you look at the title of the post, you are probably wondering what in the world I have up my sleeve? Well, with the softball season about to get underway later today, I feel it’s my duty to provide you guys, Section 1 softball nation a crash course on the softball classes.
What I’m going to do is give all of you a list of the schools by class so we all have an idea who’s where AND when it’s time for the softball seeds, we can have a little bit more fun trying to make those predictions.
So, without further adieu, here’s a look at how the schools in the Rockland/Westchester/Putnam Counties (aka Section 1 softball) is broken down by Class.
Class AA: New Rochelle, North Rockland, Arlington, Mount Vernon, John Jay-EF, White Plains, Ketcham, Mahopac, Suffern, Clarkstown North, Scarsdale, Clarkstown South, Mamaroneck, Carmel, Ramapo/Spring Valley (East Ramapo), Fox Lane, Horace Greeley, Port Chester, Ursuline, Ossining, Yorktown.
Class A: Saunders, John Jay, Brewster, Yonkers, Lincoln, Poughkeepsie, Tappan Zee, Gorton, Lakeland, Panas, Somers, Harrison, Riverside, Nyack, Eastchester, Peekskill, Byram HIlls, Sleepy Hollow, Rye, Pelham, Pearl River, Hen Hud, Early College (Roosevelt), Nanuet, Ardsley, Lourdes, Edgemont.
Class B: Putnam Valley, Irvington, Westlake, Pleasantville, Briarcliff, Albertus Magnus, Croton-Harmon, Hastings, Tuckahoe (because of the merger with Bronxville), Blind Brook, Valhalla, Dobbs Ferry, Pawling, Yonkers Montessori, Rye Neck, Palisade Prep, North Salem.
Class C: Haldane, Keio, Solomon Schechter, Hamilton*.

*I do believe they still have a team because it look at the schedules for the season, I still see Hamilton’s facility being used but if anyone knows for sure, I’m happy to hear you tell me I’m wrong on this.
