Outlook: Hamburg is ranked second in the state in Class A and is making its second straight appearance in the state semifinals. Hogan, who will be attending Niagara University next season, pitched a six-hitter and struck out six in the regional finals. Jones was a key hitter in the regional final win over Section 5’s Our Lady of Mercy. View two-run bunt here. The Bulldogs have been resilient as they’ve come back to win each of their past three games.
What’s next: The winner will play for the title against either Section 11’s Sayville (23-4) or Section 2’s Troy (22-2) at 2 p.m. Saturday. Troy, the top-ranked team in the state, won the Section 2 title for the first time since 1987 by knocking off three-time defeating champ South Glens Falls. Sayville won the state title for the first time in program history last year. Sayville defeated Section 8’s Island Trees 7-5 in the Long Island championship game.
