It’s that time again. It’s time to start those softball predictions. Unlike Phil, I’m going to do with what I’ve always done and that is go round by round. And that is with the Class AA and A outbracket games:
Keep locked here and on twitter for any and all updates with the severe weather headed this way.
No. 17 Ossining at No. 16 North Rockland: Cyan Scarduzio is a very solid athlete for Ossining and I think they are a solid team, but when North Rockland’s bats are on and hot, the Red Raiders are pretty tough to beat. It’s really going to come down to pitching and I think edge is very slight towards North Rockland. Prediction: North Rockland over Ossining. Next up: Travel to No. 1 Ketcham Friday.
No. 19 Clarkstown North at No. 14 Horace Greeley: This is matchup is going to come down to one thing and one thing only… pitching. How will the youngster Jackie Hoffman do against Danielle Borelli? I saw the Rams against Clarkstown South recently and the bats for the Rams will be there in this game. I also think that the Quakers bats led by Jamie Weisser and Leslie Jabloner will be there too. Prediction: Horace Greeley over Clarkstown North. Next up: Travel to No. 3 John Jay-East Fishkill Friday.
No. 18 Mount Vernon at No. 15 Yorktown: The Knights have been solid all season but I do think that the bats of the Huskers are going to prove to be too much. Up and down the lineup, the Huskers can hit. Prediction: Yorktown over Mount Vernon. Next up:: Travel to No. 2 Carmel Friday.
No. 17 Lakeland at No. 16 Sleepy Hollow: The Headless Horseman are very well coached group. Jamie Bucci is one of the top players in Westchester but I just think that this matchup is pretty even. However, the Hornets are a very veteran team and Stephanie Scala (left) is a really good pitcher and in the post-season, good pitching beats good hitting. Prediction: Lakeland over Sleepy Hollow. Next up: Travel to No. 1 Eastchester Friday.
No. 20 Somers at No. 13 Rye: This might be where I think the first upset is coming. The Garnets are good. But I think that the Tuskers bats led by Kathleen Olifers will prevail and win this game. The Tuskers have momentum after a really good win over Rye Neck leading into the post-season. Prediction: Somers over Rye. Next up: Travel to No. 4 Pearl River Friday.
No. 19 Byram Hills at No. 14 Albertus Magnus: The Falcons make their Class A playoff debut in this game and I think that this team led by the arm of Lauren Capello will be too much for the Bobcats to handle. Prediction: Albertus Magnus over Byram Hills. Next up: Travel to No. 3 Tappan Zee Friday.
No. 18 Panas at No. 15 John Jay: Molly Roche, Adrena Daw and the Panthers are solid and they have played well all year. However, the Indians this year have been a force led by Theresa Swertfager. Prediction: John Jay over Panas. Next up: Travel to No. 2 Ursuline.
