Ursuline plays Bishop O’Connell of Arlington, Virginia today @ 3:30 in Arlington, Va.
The Softball Blog has been very quiet this year, so far. No blog posts from Koala Fan or much from anyone up in Dutchess County. Need to hear from some of the “Old Gang” to see what they think about the season, so far in Westcheter, Rockland, Dutchess and Putnam Counties.
So far, I believe that the strength in Class AA still resides with both John Jay EF and RC Ketcham, although Clarkstown South has come out of the gate strong as well. As for Class A, you have to like the job that Pearl River has done so far. Tappan Zee, Eastchester and Ursuline also will be in the mix at the end.
Rye Neck has a terrific team and based upon what I have read so far, they will most likely be the team to beat in their classification.
David, We played Bishop O’Connell a few years ago in Virginia. They have a good program. They were ranked in the top 3 in the state when we played them. There were some good teams down there when we went. Best of luck to the Koalas.
Slapper thanks.. They are still good. I understand their coach is coach of Shamrocks 18U Gold. They beat yesterday’s team 8-0. Should be a good game. On way their now.

It’s too early in the season for me to judge any team. I think once everyone has a few more games in I would feel more comfortable saying anything, including about Ursuline. Wondering if you could help me out though. A team dropped out of the tournament that Ursuline is playing in this weekend and I have been frantically trying to schedule 2 games to replace them. Maybe you can spread the word for me with your coaching contacts upstate or in Section 9, transportation is not an issue for us at all. If you find any takers let me know and I’ll put up my email address for you to pass to them.

Koala Fan – I will certainly ask around to see if any teams might have a game in their schedule to play, although I am not too sure at this point in the year (However, willingness of Ursuline to travel will certainly help allot). Let me ask around.
Ursuline lost to Bishop O’Connell 5-1. Pitcher is verbally committed to Missouri. She is 2013. Very good and very effective. Won first game today against St. John’s of Rockville Maryland 15-2. Not a big challeng. Next game is against Holy Cross Academy of Kennsington MD.
Ursuline closed out their trip with a win over Holy Cross Academy 7-0. Brittany Mitchel just missed a perfect game giving up a single in the bottom of the 7th. That was followed by an error but she did get the shutout with 10 strikeouts. She also hit a home run in the game.
