Now here’s a written look at today’s games (and a couple of late comers from yesterday):
Maria Regina 13, St. Catharine 3, 5: On Thursday at Maria Regina, after 13 runs were put on the board by the Tigers the game was ended on a mercy rule in the fifth inning. MRHS’ Isabel Monaco pitched 5 innings, allowing just three earned runs and two hits, while getting six strike outs. Catcher Danielle Kirrane went 2-2 with a double, two RBI, 2 stolen bases and one run scored and shortstop Melissa Mulvaney went 1-1 with a double, one RBI, 3 stolen bases and one run scored.
Somers 6, Haldane 3: At Haldane on Thursday, Kelli Licursi pitched a complete seven-inning game for Somers with 10 strike outs and no earned runs.
Saunders 20, Riverside 3, 5: In the semifnals of the Yonkers tournament, April Sepulveda drove in four runs on three extra-base hits. Sepulveda also scored three times. Amanda Abraham did not allow an earned run in three innings for the win. Abraham also went 1-for-3 with three runs at the plate. Saunders will play at Yonkers today at 1:30 p.m. Riverside will play Lincoln in the consolation game at 11 a.m.
Yonkers 19, Lincoln 4: In the semifinals of the Yonkers tournament, Kristina Rella had a double triple, three runs and three RBI. Marianna Monaco had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Nicole Green and Kelsey Martinez both hits doubles for the Lancers.
Hen Hud 11, Kennedy 9: At Kennedy, Molly Feeney struck out six while allowing just five earned runs and Kaela Fields went 3-4 with a double and two RBI for the Gaels. Cassidy Boyle went 4-5 for Hen Hud.
