“It’s amazing; the best feeling in the world. After coming here the last two years, the first year, we lost the first game. Last year, we won the first game and lost the second. This year, to come back and beat the team that beat us last year in the finals was amazing. And to come into the finals and just shut them out was just awesome. Indescribable.” ~Jamie Degennaro.
“Like I said basically a week ago, all I had in mind was states. This was just the feeling I had hoped for. It’s just such an accomplishment to do this three years in a row and to finally get it. Inch by inch, the first year that we went, we lost the first game. The second year that we went, we won the first game but lost the second. We finally won the championship and it’s an awesome feeling.” ~Katie O’Flynn.
“Awesome! This is so cool and overwhelming. No one can believe that we won. It’s overwhelming.” ~Kaity Goldrick.
To be the first Rockland County team to win the title:
“That’s awesome. That feels so good. No one thought that we’d be the team to do it this year and we just came out and won. It was our goal.” ~Gemma Mahoney.
“It’s amazing. We work so hard every year. We worked so hard this year and through everything — the ups and down — and to get to this point and to win everything is just awesome.” ~Degennaro.
“It’s awesome; especially for the six of us who have been here three years in a row. It’s just awesome to finally get it. It means alot.” ~Goldrick.
“It feels really good just to be a team to do it. We were talking with North Rockland this morning about trying to bring two home for Rockland but we’re glad we at least brought home one.” ~Head coach Mike Carlacci.
On O’Flynn’s performance:
“These last three games, she’s been untouchable. Nobody could touch her and she helped bring us the whole way.” ~Degennaro.
“Oh my god. She did dominate. She pitched awesome hitting all of her spots. She got in her groove and just kept on going.” ~Mahoney.
“She was incredible and it was real tough weather out here. But she is a tough, tough competitor. Always comes through in the big games, in big situations. Gets out of jams. She was lights out in both games.” ~Carlacci.
