For all of us bloggers who have been complaining about the lack of proper HS Softball Coverage given to those teams within Section 1 that come from Dutchess County, here is a perfect opportunity to provide some “constructive” feedback to the Poughkeepsie Journal. In today’s edition of the PJ, they (The PJ) are looking for some volunteers to help them out. So rather that just complain, here’s a chance where your voice can actually be heard. Below is the article that they published:
The Poughkeepsie Journal sports department is putting together a focus group to see what can be done to improve the department’s coverage of high school sports in print and on poughkeepsiejournal.com
Your role in the group will involve sending us your thoughts and coming to the Journal at least once to meet with the sports team.
So if you are a high school athlete, coach, athletic director, parent of high school athletes or just a high school sports fan interested in being a member of this focus group, please e-mail your name, hometown, phone numbers and e-mail addresses to dpietraf@poughkeepsiejournal.com
FYI- RC Ketcham 1, Beacon 0 (from today’s PJ) – Tomorrow’s game between Ursuline and RCK should be a good one.

Chelsea Boyes’ RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Roy C. Ketcham High School softball team to a 1-0 victory over Beacon on Thursday.
The walk-off win helped keep the Indians’ perfect season alive (9-0 overall, 2-0 league).
For the second time in eight days, Ketcham’s Abby Canning outdueled Beacon’s Kathleen Davis in a 1-0 game. Canning (6-0) pitched a one-hitter, fanning eight.
“Abby’s a pretty intense player,” Indians coach Melissa Zehr said. “She gets in there and knows what she needs to do and gets the job done.”
Madeleine Tierney drew a walk to lead off the seventh for the Indians and Emily Padilla followed by reaching base on an error. After Tierney was thrown out on a fielder’s choice, Boyes singled to score Padilla.
“It was very intense,” Zehr said. “We are a clutch team. We got really aggressive toward the end with our bats and that made all the difference.”
Davis struck out five and allowed just two hits.
Beacon (7-2) will host its Dawgfest tournament, beginning today against Putnum Valley at 4:30 p.m.
Ketcham will try to keep its perfect season intact when it hosts Ursuline at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
