Lets remember that Debbie works real hard trying to give our sport recognition and attention. We may not always agree with what she says, but lets not forget how hard she works and that shes on the side of our sport. Congrats to all these honorees, they are all well deserving, maybe a few others are possible also, but lets remember there is some great softball in other parts of the state, thats why our section doesnt get a lot of teams to states each year. Section 1 cant get all the honorees
Thank you fan.
I appreciate it.
Congrats to Coach Carlacci on the well deserved honor. Also congrats to all of the other Section 1 All State Honorees. A great season by all in Section 1. I don’t understand the reason why Debbie took down the original post and if there was any un-tasteful comments made on the original post then that it sad. I would like to hear from Debbie on her position relating to the placing and voting of Section 1 players to the all state team. Debbie – Do you have a vote? Are you a paid member of the NYSSWA? Given your position on Nicole Flint from Brentwood, do you think that she was deserving ahead of any of the North Rockland Players? Do you feel that the Arlington player was fairly ranked higher than the North Rockland player? You do such a great job reporting HS Softball for the Journal News. Your knowledge of each of the players and teams is second to none. We need to have you have “your say” when it comes to the All State Selectons, so that more deserving players from Section 1 get their fair shake, say over some other “very good players” from another section, who get in, simply because their local HS Softball Reporter has a say in the voting. Your thoughts? Thanks Debbie
Well hotdog37, as a tasteful journal Debbie should not be making comments individually calling out girls who she felt should not have received recognition. That is rude and unprofessional.
Unfortunately I don’t have a say and I think that I’m going to rethink my decision about that.
But regarding Nicole Flint; I know what I said about her but you can’t ignore the fact that she threw 2 perfect games in the post-season and a one-hitter in the state final. So yes, she did deserve it.
Unfortunately, I don’t know enough about the rest of the state except what I’ve seen; but Emmalee Dolfi did deserve her standing.
Congratulations to all who made the list and congratulations to Coach Carlacci. My apologies to anyone who was hurt earlier but everyone deserved their standings.
Yankess21 is right; calling out people is rude and unprofessional and I apologize to anyone that was hurt. All these girls through out the state and the players from Section 1 had tremendous years and careers. This is the highest honor and let’s keep this clean.
Hotdog, hope that helps.
Debbie – You are indeed a credit to your profession. Have we had our differences of opinions over the season. Yes, BUT I have certainly respected the fact that you have personally gone out of your way to provide the coverage that these young ladies deserve. I certainly hope that the JN next year pays for your dues to the NYSSWA and you have the ability to voice your strong opinons on behalf of the deserving players from Section 1. THANKS AGAIN DEBBIE – AND HAVE A GREAT SUMMER (Don’t forget to keep the “pink chair” in good shape for next season). PS – Heard rumors that the Morabito Tournament Committee might be extending invites to the 2010 Tournament to Ursuline, North Rockland, Brewster, and White Plains.
Debbie does a great job. I am convinced her coverage was instrumental for some who made it. I missed the first post…I take it there was much disagreement with some of the selections. Is the selection process all voting, voting and stats or totally something else?

Cmon was there any doubt on this blog that any girls from Rockland county were more deservant of every award? That hasn’t become evident by this point in time?
DC Fan – Some comments have been made regarding that there might have been some other deservant Section 1 players that might have deserved All State consideration over players from other Sections, as well as some Section 1 players who made All State should have been ranked higher than others. Only paid Sportswriters who are members of the NYSSWA are elligable to vote and some people were questioning if Debbie had any say in the voting and if she was a member of the NYSSWA. I personally happen to think that the JN should pay Debbie’s dues to be a member of the NYSSWA and that Debbie definately should have a say on who from Section 1 gets in and where they are placed.
