I'm sure I'll be bashed on this one. I just feel Sam Welsh would have had the edge knowing she's the senior and this was possibly the last game of her HS career. Both are equally talented, I just felt (my opinion only) Sam may have had a little extra. No, I’m not a genius… and yes I’ve seen all pitchers (Benson, Welsh, Dinet, Scrima and O’Flynn) more than once in my daughter(s) softball careers. I’m sure I’ll be bashed on this one. (I've seen 100+ games per year for the past 7 years.) If they were the best from their section I feel really bad for the players in the section they came from. To put it bluntly they S#%KED. The inning that they did score in their hits were fielded and if you weren't there you wouldn't know what a joke of the 3 umpires were. North Rockland players, parents and coaches expected to have a tuff but fair game against Brentwood. The umpires for these games are rated the very top in their region. Brentwood scored in two innings. How was the umpiring in the 4 innings Brentwood didn't score. Benson and Welsh pitch their game...not the game the umpires called, had a different agenda, they took North Rockland completely out of the game with a miniature strike zone and left our pitchers unable to get a called strike. North Rockland played a fabulous season and they should be very proud of the season and the way they played this year. North Rockland wasn’t beat by Brentwood they were beat by the Umpires.
