How do Pearl River, Pelham, and Eastchester get higher seeds by playing mostly B, and C schools when schools like Beacon, Hen Hud, Brewster play mostly A, AA, and B schools?
hi debbie just saw your live chat good job he put you on the spot pretty good hahahaha. on the subject of coach of the year. you should consider lisa delizo from brewster. first year coach she went 15 and 5 for the season 3and 1 at the m/t toun.. with a young team no sr. 3 jr.. the rest 10th and 9th grd also got the team ranked. just a thought thank you
Cheech
If you know their schedules… Pearl River and Eastchester didn’t play as many B and Cs as you think. Pearl River’s tournament had two AA teams; North Rockland and Clarkstown South.
Look at all their schedules and then refer to the post called “Seedings Explanation” where Tony Toronto explains how the seeds are decided.
you guys are all missing the boat, I cant believe nobody is talking about Lakeland. They lost in the semifinals last year 2-1 in 8 innings and didnt graduate anybody. They are the best team in A and Debbie has not mentioned them all year.
fan..Yes Lakeland should be a force in the playoffs. But this is not the same team that played for the Sectional championship last year. They graduated quite a few players from last years team. Steve Fallo should be praised for the fine job he did this year after losing so many players from last years team. No matter how far they go he did an excellent job.
one person says lakekand did not graduate anyone, another says they graduated a few players, someone has bad info…you can bet they will be tough no matter what, she is stronger than some of the other pitchers in the section that get alot more ink..i believe fallo is now the assistant
Pelham has played 4 AA teams and beaten all 4. (mahopac, mount vernon, new rochelle, and scarsdale). So cheech, you should get your facts right.
Their SS, 3B, Catcher and I believe 2 OFs are new. And yes, Joe Chiara is the head coach. My mistake on that.
joe b maybe your thinking of yorktown lakeland i think only lost two players.. and they went extra innings with brewster the first two games of the season and they have no sr.
I know they lost Spooner, Dring, Schmeir, Jarocz didn’t come back, and 1 or 2 more. And Brittany Lichinsky, Alex Oakes , Cassie Kardias and Amy Layefsky are seniors. I think this is a very good team and could go all the way to the Championship game, but they will need a few breaks along the way. They have already had a great season. All the rest is gravy.
They did not lose their SS, its Taylor Bell, and Jarosz did not play last year, she got hurt in the second game of the season. I think they lost 2 starters, RF and maybe 2B, my point was they have their 4 best players back in Lichinsky, Bell, Kardias and Oakes. They are the best team on paper, but A is loaded, easily 8 or 9 teams that can beat each other on any given day. You’re right theyve had a great season no matter what, but I think they are the favorite
Jarocz played in 6 games, 2 vs Hen Hud, and 1 each against Beacon, Brewster, Panas and Peekskill before she got hurt. She batted 375 going 6 for 16. I thought she played in more.
FYI: Tori’s back injury was sustained, while playing volleyball this past fall, not during last springs softball season. Since we are being technical.
