I know I didn’t post my reactions to the game yesterday and boy was it an excellent game.
I just want to make a correction. The cutoff person in the bottom of the seventh inning was Lauren DiBarba and she threw it home; not Megan Weaver.
My mistake and I apologize.

I hope this doesn’t come off the wrong way, because my comment is directed at the BOCES cuts this year. Isn’t it ridiculous that with the cuts to our schedules, teams can meet the minimum requirements to be in the playoffs before a league game is even played?
Congrats to North Rockland, you are first to qualify with 8 wins. 8 wins on a 20 game schedule puts you in. Best wishes for continued success.
Since no game is decided by one fielding play or at bat, I found your naming the 2 Clarkstown North girls in the article and implying they were responsible for the loss in poor judgement. Surely there were enough positives in the game that you did not have to make 2 young athletes who felt bad feel even worse.
OK for the record; there was a correction ran in the paper.
Second; it was play by play of how Albertus won the game. I didn’t say that so and so lost the game. I made a mistake about who made the throw home that’s all it was.
Koala fan,
It isn’t that ridiculous.
You don’t choose who you play against. North Rockland took advantage of the teams they played against.
That’s all it is… it’s the same kind of debate that happens in the pros.
I knew the comment might get taken out of context. I hate the twenty game schedule is all. No Ro has played a very good schedule, I was not trying to imply anything against their schedule or that they got the 8 wins already. I just meant that with the 4 less games for everyone, it is weird to be able to qualify for playoffs before the league games even start. Most AA teams had the chance to do so. We had the same chance and did not get the 8 wins yet.
You missed the point. It has nothing to do with who made the throw home. Naming who made the error that ended the game and who struck out with the bases loaded is harsh. It is one play in many, and the errors and runners left on in the 2nd inning are as significant as the 7th. No, you didn’t accuse, but the implication was there and I’m sure those kids felt pretty low reading their names in that context.
There was a correction that ran in the paper Mountie fan and by the way, all I said was the ball got passed her.
I’m not going to explain how I do things but when it’s a big play like that.. sorry but you can’t get around naming someone and I would’ve been asked about it by an editor.
I agree that the cut in games from 24 to 20 was uncalled for. I believe it was 10 wins under the 24 game season, and you made the playoffs. Some teams will make the playoffs sooner than others. No big deal.It is what it is and we cannot change it.The 4 game cut will have a minimal cost affect on a H.S. softball budget financially. We are not talking about big bucks here to play the 4 games.Unfortunately once cuts are made, they usually stay that way.You have a point about not playing any league games yet, and be in the playoffs. It’s great to make playoffs already in this young season. Now it is up to N.Rock. to win their league which I think they can do.I understand where your coming from.
I think they will likely win at least 8 more games. The schedules should have been trimmed for Frosh, JV and modified across the board. All varsity sports should have been left alone.
Like I said, it just seems strange that so early into the season, teams can lock in a spot for, at the least an outbracket game.
