Regionals for tomorrow

June
5

I just wanted to update everyone on the schedule for tomorrow.

Class AA regional final
Yorktown vs. Binghamton (Section 4 champ) at BAGSAI complex, 3:30 p.m.
Dan Kiernan will be there to cover it.

Class A regional final
Hen Hud vs. Port Jervis (Section 9 champ) at Minisink Valley High School, 5:30 p.m.
I believe Port Jervis is the team Tappan Zee beat in the regional final last year.
I will be covering this game.

Class B regional semifinal
Postponed from today… Albertus Magnus plays Marlboro (section 9 champ) but note the location change, it is at Minisink Valley at 3:30 p.m.
Alex Myers will be covering this game.

Class C regional semifinal
Postponed from today… Dobbs Ferry plays Millbrook (section 9 champ) at Red Hook Recreation Park, 5:30 p.m.
Tony Malakian will be covering it.

Hope to see some fans at all the games!
And note.. if Magnus or Dobbs wins, they play in the regional final on Thursday at the Section8-Section 11 winner (Long Island). Winner of that then advances to the state final four at BAGSAI on Saturday.
Yorktown and Hen Hud would advance to the state final four on Saturday at BAGSAI.

OK – After that 10 Inning Marathon Game last night between Port Jervis and Maine-Endwell, I think that those extra inning games are getting to me. Congrats to Port Jervis on a well earned victory. (On a side note, kudos to Port Jervis on their trick play. It goes to show you that you need to have your heads in the game “At All Times”. Falling for the hidden ball trick shows a lack of concentration on M-E’s part. You should always be looking at your coach for direction, no matter what happens in the game. Oh well).

    For today’s games:

    Class AA regional final
Yorktown vs. Binghamton (Section 4 champ) at BAGSAI complex, 3:30 p.m.

I hope that Yorktown and their Coaching Staff were up at Minisink Valley yesterday to scout the game! With this game being played at BAGSAI and the fact that Binghamton is coached by 18 Year Veteran John Seedborg along with former Susquehanna Valley Skipper and Nationally Reknown Coach Dale Cook, I have to give the edge to Binghamton in this game.

    Class A regional final

Hen Hud vs. Port Jervis (Section 9 champ) at Minisink Valley High School, 5:30 p.m.

Port Jervis, again, deserves the kudos for winning this game. Yes, the game is being played at Minsink Valley HS, so the home field advantage goes towards PJ. However, and yes, this is the “Crow” speaking, I am going to go with Hen Hud in this game. Why? Because, I am still not sold on Port Jervis and the 10 inning game played last night and an emotional game at that, will be a tremendous hurdle to overcome as PJ gets ready to play a rested Hen Hud Team. Funny how things play out in this game.
I will be covering this game.

    Class B regional semifinal
Postponed from today… Albertus Magnus plays Marlboro (section 9 champ) but note the location change, it is at Minisink Valley at 3:30 p.m.

The “Hallie Eats Crow Game” is on for today. Although I have some extra “Salt and Pepper” on the side (just in case) I am still predicting a Huge Marlboro Victory (Can’t wait for the AM contingents to come on here tomorrow and serve up my “Crow” ala carte, should AM win, but I hope that they come on here tomorrow as well, should Marlboro win, conviencengly)

    Class C regional semifinal
Postponed from today… Dobbs Ferry plays Millbrook (section 9 champ) at Red Hook Recreation Park, 5:30 p.m.

Again, Dobbs Ferry continues on in the Memory of their Former Coach MacKenzie

Hallie…Who are you covering this game for ? I thought Erin was covering it. And I hope you didn’t put the kiss of death on Hen Hud.

    Albertus Magnus lost 1-0

  4. Hallie Lynhart

Yorktown lost 5-2 against Binghamton. Now let’s see if Hen Hud wins

  5. Hallie Lynhart

PS – Albertus Magnus only losing to Marlboro 1-0 is quite an accomplishment. I will eat some “Phasant Under Glass” since it was so close. Congrats AM on a very nice season.

  6. bruceg

I am shocked that Yorktown lost and the fact they only scored two runs. What kind of pitching does Binghamton have? My guess is it was a junk ball pitcher.

  7. Hallie Lynhart

No, actually the Singer girl throws pretty hard. She has a nice rise ball as well as an effective Screw Ball, and she throws in an effective change up from time to time. Binghamton is very well coached, especially since the Former Susquehanna Valley HS Varsity Coach (State Champs the past 2 years) came aboard (he is taking over the program next year) and has worked with the pitchers there.

PS – The Binghamton High School softball team defeated Yorktown, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon to advance to this weekend’s New York State Class AA semifinals.

Danielle Singer tossed a five-hitter and struck out seven for the Patriots. Lindsay Hampton went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

  9. bruceg

Susquehanna won two titles because of Becca Wiggins. I know the coach and he is good, but without the all state pitcher he’s not winning state championships.

  10. Sailor Fan

Just heard that Hen Hud has beaten Port Jervis, 4-0. On to states!! Way to go girls.

  11. Hallie Lynhart

bruce g – yes, Becca Wiggins certainly helped, but did you know that Coach Cook won state championships with Rachel Wiggins and his daughter Barb pitching as well. Coach Cook is one of the best Pitching Coachings in the Country (I happened to play for him one summer on the Conklin Raiders). So, please give credit where credit is due.
